Verso Labs is a product and technology studio founded in 2017. We build digital products, platforms, and systems for businesses across the Caribbean, Europe, and beyond.
Verso started because we believed that the way most technology projects are delivered is fundamentally broken. Too many projects start with technology, not people. Too many backlogs are full of features that nobody asked for. Too many products launch to silence because nobody tested whether the idea was worth building in the first place.
We do things differently. Every product starts with the people who will use it. We go where they are, observe how they work, and build what they actually need. We mock everything up so you can see it and react to it before we write code. We test rigorously, prove that things work, and only then do we scale.
Our founders, Dwayne Browne and Federica Ancona, each spent over a decade building products in the field before founding Verso in 2017. Dwayne built AI and data products for some of the largest media and retail companies in Europe, from the BBC to Channel 4 to Carrefour. Federica brought hands-on product delivery experience from Deloitte and building ventures like Savate Centre from scratch. That combined experience shaped a methodology that blends enterprise rigour with startup speed. We call it the Verso Way.
Today, Verso Labs operates across Barbados and London, building production systems that process millions in revenue, serve thousands of customers, and run real businesses day to day. We're small by design. Every client gets the full team, not a junior assigned to their account.

These aren't values on a wall. They're the operating principles behind every product we build and every decision we make.
Nothing lives in abstraction. Every idea, every feature, every flow becomes something you can see, touch, and react to before a single line of code is written. If you can't show it to someone and get a reaction, you're not ready to build it.
We create products, but we centre ourselves around the people using them. We go where they are. We observe how they actually work. Their reality shapes every product decision we make. Technology serves the vision, never the other way around.
We don't ship on hope. Every feature gets tested with real data, real scenarios, and real edge cases. We prove causation, not just correlation. If the evidence says it doesn't work, we fix it before anyone else sees it.
The Verso Way didn't come from a book. It came from over a decade of building products in the field, making mistakes, and learning what actually works across media, retail, consulting, and technology.
Built the big data platform that unified customer data across iPlayer, Radio, and Homepage into myBBC. Zero-to-one product work that created something from nothing.
Learned: start with data, not featuresTook a recommendation engine from concept to working product. 15-20% improvement in content discovery. Navigated the tension between editorial voice and algorithmic optimisation. Secured an investment for follow-on development.
Learned: editorial integrity and AI can coexistBuilt a personalisation platform from scratch. 2x homepage conversion. +21% order likelihood. Integrated across email, loyalty, and direct mail. Still running today, years later.
Learned: build infrastructure, not demosEverything learned from enterprise media and retail, applied to building real products for real businesses. $65M+ revenue processed across all platforms. Every methodology refined through practice, not theory.
Learned: small teams, big outcomesEvery client gets the full team, not a junior assigned to their account. We're a small, senior group that moves fast and owns the outcome end to end.
