The client wanted to double the number of travellers it had on Carnival compared to the
previous year, and it tried to do so without significantly increasing the volunteers
and staff who would take costume bookings, and fittings and without incurring
additional rent and leasing costs for physical locations. Verso Labs’ approach was to help them build an online booking system that would allow customers to browse costumes, customise those costumes, and book or pay for them, depending on the customer’s location. The customer could more than triple their revenue account for that carnival year, a third of the bookings going through the online portal.
Situation
A large carnival and Caribbean company wanted to create a new online experience for their travellers by allowing them to discover and explore carnival costumes online. It would then significantly reach a much wider audience outside of the island but would, in turn, also let more customers consider their brand and grow its reach.
Solution
The solution would include custom development using Drupal, CMS integration with PayPal payments, and Rich Media Technology in the form of videos and animations. The company created the VOR reversal team instead of graphic designers, interaction designers, front-end and server-side developers and planners.
Outcomes
The customer could more than triple their revenue account for that carnival year, a third of the bookings going through the online portal. Three out of every five customers would
have either viewed or booked their costume via the online portal, while 5% peered through the portal.
