BBC is one of the largest broadcasters in the world and provides services in Europe and North America. The BBC wanted to provide its audience with a more personalised experience when reading online news or watching online content in their daily communications. Verso created a delivery plan to integrate systems that were still needed and decommissioned or deprecated those that did not work into the overarching design for the new data platform.

Situation
The BBC wanted to provide its audience with a more personalised experience when reading online news or watching online content in their daily communications. The BBC
would need to consolidate several disparate analytic systems and create a new platform that would prove that would give them one single view of their audiences.
Solution
Verso Labs worked with architects across the organisation in various departments across geographical boundaries to understand which systems could be consolidated and which could be used as sources for the new data platform. A delivery plan was created to integrate systems that were still needed and decommissioned or deprecate those that did not work into the overarching design for the new data platform.
Data Platform would make use of technologies solely on a purely AWS using technologies such as Amazon EMR, Elastic MapReduce, AWS data pipeline, Salesforce marketing cloud and Adobe analytics.
Outcome
After the successful delivery of the data platform, the BBC can send personalised emails to its audiences and allows each audience member to read and resume playing videos across devices. Recommended content is also tailored to the viewer’s previous watching history while exposing them to different types of content and a variety of content that the client will typically provide.
